I have often been encouraged by  friends to start a beer blog, mixed with stories from my travels, and that is what I’m doing.  I want this to be more of an everyday man’s beer site, because as much as I enjoy reading professional books and reviews I am always hard pressed to find all the flavors and nuances they say are there.

Most of the beers that I will be reviewing are available in Georgia and Florida, and I’m sure some of them are available in South and North Carolina.   I currently live in the Hagerstown MD after moving here from Florida, so my newest listings are for beers available in the MD, PA area. I would also like to reassure you that I am not paid by anyone to review any products (lets face it who would pay someone with such bad spelling as me to write),  and all opinions are those of me or my wife, who will go by Spookloops, (because sometimes she just comes up with much better words to describe a beer) and some select friends of beer.  I’m sure occasionally stories and thoughts about other alcoholic beverages will sneak in here, because lets face it I’m not just a one trick pony  and I have caught the review bug hard.

I grew up all over the world, but have spent most time living in the American South.  I’m married with no kids, just a very special cat, Twitch, who is probably pleasantly snoozing behind me waiting for me to get up, indicating it’s time for food. Everything to him is a sign that it’s time for food.

In a quick run down, I was born in Hungary, but spent the first 4 years of my life in North Africa, about that, all I can tell you is that it was hot, sandy and my hair was bleached platinum blond by the sun.  After Africa my family moved back to Hungary, where I started kindergarten and later elementary school.  My parents have always liked to travel so from when they could afford it till I was 16-17 we always went on summer vacation somewhere foreign, we have pretty much been on ever continent except the poles, and Australia, though we have never vacationed in South or Central America.  When the 90′s came around we moved to Holland and continued traveling, now more by plane than by car, as previously.  Finally after 5 years (around 1995) we moved to South Carolina and I have lived in the South ever since then. I’ve been living in Central Florida for the past 3 years, but I don’t know how much longer we will be here. I have never lived in the same location (town) for more than 5 years all of my live so if that cycle continues I might be moving soon.

My interest in beer didn’t really start with drinking, as a child I started collecting beer coasters, it was a way my parents thought up to keep me entertained as we traveled around. It’s a hobby I still practice, thought coasters are becoming rarer now days. Because of that I started looking at beer labels, which ultimately led to me exploring beer styles and begging to enjoy beer.
